Wordpress5からデフォルトでなくなったので「もういらない」と思ったら大間違い。
現在でも日本語ファイルのアップロードなどでも困らないように対処してくれます。

最新のバージョンにも対応しているのでとりあえず入れて使ってる
このプラグインでエラーの原因になった覚えはないし
サポートされ続ける限り入れたままにするだろう
